Adjusting the seat
You need to be able to reach the foot pedals comfortably without stretching. A slight bend in your leg is perfect when the clutch is fully depressed.
Your headrest helps reduce whiplash in an accident. Roughly the middle of your head should be in line with the middle of your headrest.
You should hold the wheel at either the 10 to 2 position or the 2:45 position, your arms should not be fully outstretched, you should still have a slight bend at your elbows.
Your instructor will explain the pull-push steering technique.
It is the law you wear your seatbelt. Always make sure there are no twists in your seatbelt because it will press into you more in an accident.
Your centre mirror is made of flat glass. This gives you the true image of what is behind you. The door mirrors are made of convex glass, they give you a wider field of vision but make things seem further away than they really are.
Adjusting your centre mirror: You need the best possible view of the road behind you.
Adjusting your door mirrors: You need the best possible view down both sides of the car. You can check for cyclists on your left or a motorcycle/over taking vehicle on your right.
Blind spots: These are areas that you cannot see. Your instructor will give you a full explanation.

Moving of up hill, this lesson will teach you how to move the vehicle off uphill without rolling back using the handbrake and good clutch control. please the diagram below for helpful hints on your upcoming lesson.
Moving off downhill, in this lesson you will learn how to move off downhill holding the car still on the foot brake and releasing the handbrake please refer to the diagram below
Emergency stop, this is one of the only manoeuvres you will not be using your mirror. you will be stopping the car as quickly as possible under full control as if a child rain out or a car pulled out in front of you. Please refer to the image below

Crossing traffic, in this lesson you will learn how to cross traffic Safely, looking out for pedestrians and other road users. please refer to the diagram below
Overtaken traffic, in this lesson you will learn how to safely overtake traffic in all situations including minor roads, carriageways and motorways. please refer to the diagram below
Parallel Park, in this lesson you will learn how to perform a parallel park also known as reverse park, reversing your vehicle into a parking slot on the side of the road, under control using good observation in one smooth motion. please refer to the diagram below
Bay parking left and right, in This lesson you will learn how to reverse your vehicle into a parking bay from left or right, under control and using good observation. please refer to the diagram below
